SINGAPORE (ICIS)—China’s Jilin Petrochemical shut its 300,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant in Jilin province on 21 October for one week of regular maintenance, a source close to the company said on Monday.
During the shutdown, equipment will be cleaned, a company source said on 18 October.
The plant produced HDPE pipe grade before the shutdown, and supply is expected to be affected, some market sources said.
However, others held the opinion that it was unlikely that the shutdown will have significant impact on the market because of the short duration.
The company’s other linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) plant at the same site, with a capacity of 275,000 tonnes/year, is currently running at 100% capacity.
