EU exports and imports of BD, isoprene fall in July

LONDON (ICIS)--EU exports of butadiene (BD) and isoprene declined by 11.27% in July 2013 year on year, according to Eurostat data released on Monday.

Europe is structurally long on BD and therefore is a net exporter. The drop in exports in July reflects the unwillingness of European BD producers to export volumes given the weak Asian market – the key outlet for European tonnes – and their attempts to tailor BD output more closely to domestic demand through rate reductions and the co-cracking of BD feedstock crude C4.

Import volumes in July were down by 72.51% to 1,250 tonnes compared with 4,547 tonnes in the same month last year.
