LONDON (ICIS)--EU adipic acid (ADA) exports out of the region have fallen by 60% in August year on year, according to data from statistics agency Eurostat on Monday.

New capacity in Asia has reduced the continent’s reliance on European material. Asia has traditionally been a major importer of European ADA.

July exports of ADA from the EU also fell, by 26%, for the same reasons.

Imports of ADA fell in July 2013 compared with July 2012 by 38% because of weak demand in Europe caused by poor macroeconomic conditions. August imports were marginally lower year on year, falling by 0.34%.
