LONDON (ICIS)--EU butanediol (BDO) imports from the rest of the world in July rose steeply compared with the same month in 2012, according to data from statistics agency Eurostat on Monday

Increases in BDO imports in 2013 have been attributed both to competitively priced material arriving from Asia, and US material being imported to cover domestic shortfalls in Europe.

Imports into the EU rose sharply in July, before falling back in August, according to the Eurostat data.
