LONDON (ICIS)--Imports of acrylic acid (AA) and its esters into the EU from the rest of the world fell by 30% year on year in July and by 22% in August, data from European statistics agency Eurostat showed this week.
July amounted to 715 tonnes, compared with 1,017 tonnes in the same month last year, while August's figure was 1,161 tonnes, compared with 1,496 tonnes in August 2012.
Exports out of the EU were up in July by 34% and by 12% in August year on year.
July exports were 5,339 tonnes, compared with 3,997 tonnes in July 2012, while August exports amounted to 3,909 tonnes, a rise from 3,474 tonnes in the same month last year.
Eurostat import/export data is subject to revision as more detailed information becomes available.
