SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Jinchengtai Chemical Co’s 600,000 tonne/year coal-based methanol plant in Erdos, Inner Mongolia is currently shut for a 10-day regular maintenance, a company official said on Wednesday.
The plant was taken off line on 21 October, the official said.
The company is a subsidiary of Inner Mongolia Jinchengtai Energy Group.
A consequent reduction in methanol supply in the domestic market may provide some support to spot amid weak demand in Inner Mongolia, a market player said.
Spot methanol prices in Inner Mongolia stood at yuan (CNY) 2,380-2,400/tonne ($391-394/tonne) on Wednesday, down by CNY20/tonne from Tuesday, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
($1 = CNY 6.09)
