HOUSTON(ICIS)--US methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) imports decreased 24% year on year for August, according to data released Monday by the International Trade Commission (ITC).
MEK imports fell to 9,278 tonnes in August 2013 from 12,240 tonnes the same period last year.
The Netherlands saw a 67% increase in the amount of MEK it sent to the United States. Brazil also saw an increase of 11%.
The United Kingdom saw a 63% decrease in the amount of MEK it imported to the United States. Other MEK import countries include South Africa, China, Taiwan and Germany.
MEK exports overall were down 10% year on year, the data showed. Exports to Mexico saw a 23% increase, while exports to Costa Rica saw an increase of 37%.
Exports to Canada were down 81%.
