HOUSTON (ICIS)--US urea imports in August 2013 were down by 30% from the same month a year earlier, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Monday.

Urea imports declined to 403,283 tonnes in August from 576,071 tonnes in August 2012. Imports fell in August mainly because of decreased product from Canada.

August 2013 imports more than tripled from 131,332 tonnes of urea in July 2013.

Kuwait at 86,401 tonnes, was the biggest source of US urea imports, followed by Canada at 78,805 and Saudi Arabia at 60,531.

Other sources included China, Bahrain and Russia.
