HOUSTON (ICIS)--Honeywell plans to build a new facility in China to meet growing demand for its performance materials and technologies, the diversified US-based industrial group said on Tuesday.

Honeywell said that the plant at Zhangjiagang, northwest of Shanghai, would initially produce catalysts and adsorbents for the company’s UOP petrochemicals technologies business unit.

In particular, it will produce catalysts to support UOP’s Oleflex propylene production technology. UOP has licensed Oleflex technology to 19 Chinese producers over the past three years.

Honeywell did not disclose financial or capacity details, and it did not comment on timelines for the plant’s construction and start-up.
