Taiwan's TSMC to shut one SM unit for turnaround in May-June 2014

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan Styrene Monomer Corporation (TSMC) plans to conduct a scheduled maintenance at its smaller styrene monomer (SM) unit at Linyuan in Kaohsiung from May 2014 for three weeks, a company source said on Wednesday.

The SM plant has a nameplate capacity of 160,000 tonnes/year, the source said.

A slightly larger SM unit with a capacity of 180,000 tonne/year will continue to run during the shutdown period, the source added.

Both plants are currently running at 100% of capacity.
