LONDON (ICIS)--Spain-based polyethylene terephthalate (PET) producer Novapet has decided to delay its maintenance shutdown in Barbastro from October to November, a company source said on Wednesday.

"We have delayed our shutdown by a month. It was due on 17 October, but because of some unexpected demand, we delayed it to 14 November. It will restart on 7 January," the source said.

Poor market conditions this year has resulted in maintenance at the 130,000 tonne/year plant being performed in the fourth quarter of 2013 instead of the original date in April 2014.

Novapet has a 30,000 tonne/year PET plant and a 100,000 tonne/year speciality plant at the same site.
