HOUSTON (ICIS)--US cumene production in the third quarter of 2013 totalled about 1.49bn lbs (676,000 tonnes), down by more than 6% from 1.59bn lbs one year earlier, the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) said on Thursday.
However, cumene output for the third quarter was up almost 10% from 1.36bn lbs in the previous quarter, the group said.
Total cumene production for the first three quarters of 2013 was about 4.23bn lbs, down by about 22% from 5.43bn lbs in first three quarters of 2012, according to the AFPM.
AFPM’s quarterly data is based on voluntary reports.
Participating in the survey were Blue Island Phenol, Citgo, Axiall, Ineos Phenol, Dow Chemical, Shell Chemical, Marathon and Flint Hills Resources.
