MELBOURNE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Kumho P&B Chemicals on 4 November restarted its No 2 and No 3 phenol/acetone units after completing a scheduled overhaul, a company source said on Tuesday.

The company is running the plants at about 70% of capacity, with no immediate plans to ramp up production, the source said.

The plants were shut on 10 October to undergo maintenance.

Kumho P&B’s No 2 plant can produce 130,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 80,000 tonnes/year of acetone, while its No 3 plant can produce 250,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 150,000 tonnes/year of acetone.

The South Korean producer’s No 1 phenol/acetone plant has been idle since early 2009.
