HOUSTON (ICIS)--Chevron Phillips Chemical (CP Chem) has completed a study to expand its capacity for normal alpha olefin (NAO) at Baytown, Texas, by at least 20% and it plans to seek final project approval in the first quarter of 2014, the US-based petrochemicals major said on Tuesday.

Construction could begin in the first quarter, and the project could be completed in the second quarter of 2015, CP Chem said in a brief update.

“This is a critical milestone in meeting our goals to remain a consistent and reliable supplier to our customers and to meet their growth strategies,” said Mitch Eichelberger, general manager of normal alpha olefins and polyalphaolefins for CP Chem.
