Europe Q4 POM prices roll over on steady demand

LONDON (ICIS)--European polyacetal (POM) Q4 contract prices have settled on Tuesday at a rollover from the third quarter on broadly stable demand.

The quarterly contract price of feedstock methanol has seen a €38/tonne increase since the start of the year. However, competition from lower-priced POM from Asia is preventing European producers from increasing their prices. POM prices have been steady since April last year.

While one producer is still negotiating its Q4 contracts and targeting a price rollover, most other market participants have finalised their discussions.

Some buyers attempted to negotiate for price decreases of €0.05-0.10/kg, but these largely failed as producers held steady to limit the erosion on their margins.

Q3 natural grade POM contract prices settled at a pre-discounted level of €2.20-2.30/kg FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe).
