HOUSTON (ICIS)--TPC Group has increased its polyisobutylene (PIB) capacity by more than 10% over 2012, the US-based C4 producer said on Wednesday.
The company plans to increase PIB capacity further in 2014, TPC Group said. The company did not elaborate on the extent of the capacity increase.
The debottlenecking project is intended to meet demand from the customers in the lubricant additives, sealant, adhesives and industrial lubricants markets, it said.
In addition to expanding current capacity, TPC Group plans to install a third production unit, the company said. This project has progressed in its design phase.
This third unit should meet future demand caused by new lubricating oil standards, which will be phased in during the next three years, the company said.
