SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s Zhejiang Qingan Chemical Industry will restart its 150,000 tonne/year dioctyl phthalate (DOP) unit at Jiaxing in Zhejiang province by the end of this week, a source close to the company said on Thursday.
The DOP unit was shut on 20 October due to a shortage of raw material, the source added.
The restart of the plant may weigh on DOP prices in the Chinese domestic market amid the weak demand, one market source said.
Domestic DOP prices in east China were at yuan (CNY) 10,875/tonne ($1,783/tonne) EXWH (ex-warehouse) east China on 6 November, compared with CNY10,950/tonne on 1 November, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
China’s Zhejiang Qingan Chemical Industry is a key plasticizer producer in Jiaxing.
