HOUSTON (ICIS)--Domestic prices for November polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in Colombia were confirmed down by $35/tonne (€26/tonne) this week, driven by global market dynamics, sources said on Thursday.
Domestic prices for pipe-grade PVC in Colombia were assessed at $1,225/tonne DEL (delivered) after this month’s decrease.
Colombia’s export quotes for November were priced lower by $30/tonne from October to $1,210-1,230/tonne CFR (cost and freight) Brazil, on the need to remain competitive.
Market participants in Latin America are projecting that PVC prices will remain steady or fall further in December, amid ample supply and weakening demand towards the end of the year as participants along the production chain shave inventories to reduce tax exposure.
October domestic PVC prices in Latin America mostly rolled over from September.
PVC producers in Latin America include Braskem, Mexichem, Solvay and Pequiven.
