LONDON (ICIS)--SABIC Europe’s Olefins 4 cracker at Geleen in the Netherlands has achieved on-spec production and is currently running at two-thirds of its capacity following a planned maintenance turnaround, a company source said on Friday.
“[The] start-up of SABIC naphtha cracker Olefins 4 runs according to plan, all materials are on spec as of today,” the source said, adding that the plant was gradually increasing throughput because of the integration of upgrade projects.
The upgrade projects will make the cracker more energy efficient.
The No 4 cracker, the larger of the two owned by SABIC at the site, has the capacity to produce 675,000 tonnes/year of ethylene, according to ICIS data, and was shut down for maintenance on 15-16 September.
