Japan's PSP shipments increase by 4.4% in October

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s domestic shipments of foamed polystyrene (PS) sheet, or polystyrene paper (PSP), increased by 4.4% month on month to 9,220 tonnes in October, official industry data showed on Monday.

This is a 9.4% increase from the same time a year earlier, according to the Japan Polystyrene Foamed Sheet Industry Association (JASFA).

Of the total, 3,440 tonnes were shipped for the production of rolled PSP trays, down 10% from the previous month, and a 1.8% year-on-year increase, the data showed.

Shipments of PSP for laminated bowls stood at 3,740 tonnes, a 22% increase from the previous month, and up by 17% from the year earlier, based on the statistics.

PSP is primarily used for food packaging.
