SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) imports in October are estimated at 1.04m tonnes, down by 18.2% from the previous month, local traders said on Monday.

The country took in some 66,200 tonnes of PE and 374,000 tonnes of PP last month, they said.

Comparing the volumes with the official September imports, October 2013 PE imports decreased by 18.6%, while PP imports were down by 17.5%.

Traders attributed the substantial decline in import volumes to the week-long China National Day celebration at the start of October.

Official October imports data will be released by China Customs around 24 November.
