MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Malaysia’s PETRONAS Chemicals Group (PCG) is in the process of ramping up the operating rate at its 50,000 tonne/year butyl acetate (butac) unit at Kerteh in Terengganu after restarting the unit over the weekend of 9-10 November, a company source said on Wednesday.
The plant restart was delayed from late October because of technical issues, said the source, without giving further details.
The producer took its butac plant off line in early September as part of a major overhaul at the company’s Kerteh petrochemical complex.
Other butac makers in Asia include Korea Alcohol Industrial in South Korea, Celanese in Singapore, Shiny Chemical Industrial in Taiwan, as well as Wuxi Baichuan Chemical Industrial and Jiangmen Handsome Chemical Development in China.
