LONDON (ICIS)--Italian chemicals producer Versalis is planning to close its butadiene (BD) unit at Ravenna, Italy, because of technical issues, a company source said on Wednesday.
“We will be forced to shut down for five–six days in order to do some repairs,” the source said.
The source added that Ravenna would be taken off line only when the Brindisi BD unit, which is in the restart process, is back online.
Versalis owns and operates two BD extraction units in Italy – the 140,000 tonne/year unit in Ravenna and a 145,000 tonne/year unit in Brindisi.
