HOUSTON (ICIS)--Elevance Renewable Sciences is producing commercial quantities of bio-based multifunctional polymers and emollients for personal care applications, the US-based specialty chemicals company announced on Wednesday.
Using a technology called olefin metathesis, Elevance uses renewable oil feedstocks - including palm, soybean and algal oils - to produce drop-in alternatives to petroleum-based materials.
“Elevance innovations are expanding sustainable and renewable product offerings, enabling personal care customers to provide unique products and performance in skin, hair and cosmetic applications to meet changing market trends and needs and improve business results,” said Andy Corr, senior vice president for consumer and industrial ingredients at Elevance.
The company plans to introduce additional products in the Elevance Soft line, with sample quantities available in late 2013 and commercial quantities available in 2014.
