HOUSTON (ICIS)--LSB Industries has entered into an agreement with Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) to construct a nitric acid plant and a nitric acid concentrator at the El Dorado Chemical site in Arkansas, the fertilizer producer confirmed on Wednesday.
SAIC will also be in charge of managing the construction for both the 360,000 ton/year (327,000 tonne/year) nitric acid plant and the 40,000 ton/year concentrator plant.
While not revealing the financial details of the contract with SAIC, LSB officials said that the total cost of the plants is projected at approximately $120m (€88.8m). The plans call for the plants to be completed by mid-2015 assuming no unexpected delays and the timely receipt of the necessary environmental permits.
Early this year the two companies entered into an agreement for the construction of an ammonia plant at the same site that is expected to cost $250m and to be completed by the end of 2015.
