HOUSTON (ICIS)--BioPower Operations has formed a joint venture that will license intellectual property rights for the production of cellulosic biofuels to oil firms, sugar companies, and to producers of ethanol and transportation fuels, the US-based company said on Thursday.
BioPower said that the joint venture was formed by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Global Energy Crops Corp, and Alternative Green Today. Financial or other terms were not disclosed.
The venture would provide a platform of sustainable solutions for the production of cellulosic biofuels and bio-based products “in a flexible and cost-effective manner,” said Marco Baez-Vasquez, BioPower’s chief scientific and technology officer.
"Our latest work and results have made significant progress towards configuring an advanced process for the production of cellulosic biofuels economically,” Baez-Vasquez added.
