European average October chlorine production up 3.2% year on year

LONDON (ICIS)--European average daily chlorine production in October increased 3.2% year on year and 1.1% month on month, according to data released by industry body Eurochlor on Friday.

Average daily production during the months was 25,540 tonnes, compared to an average of 25,258 tonnes/day in September 2013 and 24,739 tonnes/day in October 2012., the group added.

In October 2013, total European chlorine production was 791,725 tonnes.

There was mixed direction for October caustic soda stocks. In October 2013, caustic soda volumes were at 249,942 tonnes, 5.3% below stock levels of 264,005 tonnes the previous month. However, October 2013 stocks exceeded by 35,956 tonnes the level in October 2012 which was 213,986 tonnes

Chlorine capacity utilisation is slightly up year-on-year  from 71.4% in October 2012 to 73.7% to October 2013.
