US Sep EPS exports rose by 3.1% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of expandable polystyrene (EPS) for September were up by 3.1% from the same month in 2012, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Tuesday.

US EPS exports rose to 5,945 tonnes in September 2013 from 5,762  tonnes in the same month of 2012.

Mexico, Canada and Colombia were the top destinations for US exports, with Mexico taking nealy 21% more material in September 2013 than it did in 2012. Exports to Canada and Colombia fell.

US EPS imports fell by 13% in September to 13,381 tonnes, down from 15,451 tonnes in 2012.

The Bahamas, Canada and Mexico were the top exporters to the US.

Major North American EPS producers are BASF, Nova Chemicals, Flint Hills Resources, Styrochem, Nexkemia, Polioles and Polidesa.
