HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of mixtures of 2,4- and 2,6-toluene di-isocyanates (TDI) in September 2013 were up by almost 30% from September 2012, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Tuesday.

TDI exports in September 2013 rose to 15,291 tonnes from 11,800 tonnes in 2012.

Month on month, exports rose by about 32% from 11,576 tonnes in August 2013.

Through September, exports declined by 14% to 95,948 tonnes, compared with 111,618 tonnes in the first nine months of 2012.

The decrease from 2012 to 2013 was a result of smaller volumes being shipped to Belgium, Canada and Colombia.

Top destinations for US TDI so far in 2013 were Brazil (24,786 tonnes), Mexico (15,420 tonnes), Belgium (13,481 tonnes) and Canada (10,338 tonnes).

US TDI suppliers are Bayer MaterialScience, BASF and Dow Chemical.
