US September propylene glycol exports rise 17% year on year

NEW YORK (ICIS)--September US exports for propylene glycol (PG) rose 17% year on year, according to trade data made available on Tuesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Year on year, September exports increased to 10,018 tonnes from 8,531 tonnes.

Month on month, exports fell 14% to 11,640 tonnes seen in August.

Year on year, September US imports increased to 2,771 tonnes from 231 tonnes.

Month on month, imports also jumped, showing a 56% increase from 1,771 tonnes in August, according to the ITC.

PG is a feedstock for unsaturated polyester resins (UPR), cosmetics and personal care products, functional fluids and antifreezes, liquid detergents and dog food.

US producers include Archer Daniels Midland, Dow Chemical, Huntsman, LyondellBasell, and Lonza.
