US September acrylic acid exports nearly twice year-ago levels – ITC

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acrylic acid exports for September were nearly double year-ago levels, according to US International Trade Commission (ITC) data released on Tuesday.

Export volume for September increased to 3,949 tonnes from 1,987 tonnes in September 2012, with Brazil and Mexico each taking more than 1,600 tonnes during the month. Month-over-month volumes to both destinations increased by about 61% and 23%, respectively.

Imports increased to 1,893 tonnes in September from just 382 tonnes one year ago, mostly of the increase coming from Germany, which shipped to the US 1,088 tonnes, or more than 57% of September’s imports. The volume of material from China increased to 701 tonnes in September from 211 tonnes in the same month of 2012.

US acrylic acid suppliers include Dow Chemical, BASF, Sasol and Arkema Emulsion Systems.
