HOUSTON (ICIS)--DuPont has reached a deal to sell its glass laminating solutions/vinyls (GLS/Vinyls) business to Japan’s specialty chemicals firm Kuraray for $543m (€407m), plus the value of inventories, the US-based major said on Thursday.
GLS/Vinyls is part of DuPont’s packaging and industrial polymers division. It supplies polyvinyl butyral and ionomer sheets for safety glass, and vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) products used in architectural, automotive, industrial and other applications.
GLS/Vinyls had full-year 2012 net sales of more than $500m. It has about 600 employees with six manufacturing sites in the ?xml:namespace>
The companies expect to complete the transaction in the first half of 2014, subject to regulatory approvals.
