SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhenhai Refining & Chemical (ZRCC) plans to shut down its polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) units at Ningbo in Zhejiang province in May 2014 for maintenance, a source close to the company said on Monday.
The 550,000 tonne/year PP and the 450,000 tonne/year PE units will be off line for 45 days each, because ZRCC will shut its upstream 1m tonne/year cracker during the same period, the source added.
The supply of both PP and PE will likely decrease significantly then, because of the plants’ huge capacity and long duration of the shutdowns, according to a trader in eastern China.
