EU September PTA imports surged, exports fell year on year

LONDON (ICIS)--Purified terephthalic acid (PTA) imports into the EU surged in September year on year, but exports during the same period fell by 79%, data from European statistics agency Eurostat showed on Monday.

September imports amounted to 15,287 tonnes, compared with 7,643 tonnes in the same month last year.

Exports out of the EU in September were at 11,622 tonnes, compared with 54,713 tonnes in September 2012.

Eurostat import/export data is subject to revision as more detailed information becomes available.
