HOUSTON (ICIS)--Canadian energy infrastructure firm Enbridge on Tuesday launched an open season to solicit commitments from shippers on its planned pipeline project to expand takeaway capacity for crude oil from ?xml:namespace>
The binding open season commitment period will end on 24 January 2014.
Enbridge said earlier that Marathon Petroleum will be the project’s anchor shipper.
The $2.6bn (€1.9bn) Sandpiper Project will expand Enbridge’s North Dakota Bakken shale oil takeaway capacity by 225,000 bbl/day to 580,000 bbl/day after coming into service in early 2016.
“The project, in connection with the [existing] Lakehead pipeline system, will provide access to premium markets in the Midwest and eastern
