LONDON (ICIS)--Freight rates to move 5,000 tonnes of easy chems from Rotterdam to the US Gulf softened on low levels of activity, sources said on Friday.
Freight rates were assessed at $35-40/tonne (€26-30/tonne), down by $2-4/tonne from the previous week.
“There have been a few cargoes quoted for the first half of December but not so much for the second half of December. Thanksgiving has made things very quiet,” one source said.
“I’m a bit surprised there haven’t been more cargoes quoted for the second half of December but this activity could still come,” the source added.
“There have been so many vessels open and so few cargoes it gets difficult to see any positive signs,” another source said.
“Not much is being fixed,” according to another source.
