HOUSTON (ICIS)--Marathon Petroleum is considering building a $140m (€104m) pipeline from the Utica Shale oil and gas region to its refinery at Canton in Ohio, an executive for the US-based refiner said on Wednesday.

Marathon executive vice president Garry Peiffer said that Marathon subsidiary MPLX is already evaluating right of way options for the project to connect the Utica Shale to the 80,000 bbl/day Canton refinery. He made the remarks during an investor presentation.

In related news, Marathon said recently that it would be the anchor shipper for pipeline takeaway capacity from North Dakota’s Bakken Shale oil region.
