SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TPCC) is planning to bring forward a scheduled maintenance at its maleic anhydride (MA) plant in Kaohsiung by a week amid a surge in cost of feedstock butane, a company source said on Thursday.

The company is looking at shutting down the plant on 17/18 December instead of the original schedule of 26 December, the source said.

The duration of the turnaround will be extended to 17-18 days from the previous plan of 10 days, the source said.

The plant turnaround is expected to have a marginal impact on supply to its customers, as the company would stock up ample inventory ahead of the year-end holiday season, the source said.

TPCC is one of the four major MA producers in Taiwan.
