LONDON (ICIS)--European bisphenol A (BPA) contract prices rolled over from November to December at €1,360-1,460/tonne ($1,863-2,000/tonne) FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe) as producers were forced to absorb feedstock price increases.
Producers’ hopes of passing on the €109/tonne increase in the December benzene contract were thwarted by weak downstream demand and cheaper Asian imports.
“In the small places where we had some spot we did not pass that on. We are going to have to eat it in December,” said one producer.
Spot prices were also unchanged at €1,330-1,380/tonne FD NWE.
