US October EDC exports jump by 12% year over year - ITC

MEDELLIN, Colombia (ICIS)--US October ethylene dichloride (EDC) exports jumped by almost 12% year over year, according to data made available on Wednesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Exports increased to 71,940 tonnes from 64,360 tonnes in October 2012.

Top destinations for US EDC exports were China, South Korea and Japan.

Month over month, exports surged more than 98% from 36,266 tonnes in September.

Deep sea export business is almost exclusively for the production of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM).

The prices quoted typically reflect lots of 2,000-5,000 tonnes.

US producers of EDC are Axiall, Basic, Dow, Formosa, Occidental Chemical, Oxy Vinyls, OxyMar, Westlake.
