HOUSTON (ICIS)--US October imports of butadiene (BD) fell by 20% year on year, according to data made available on Wednesday.
October imports of BD were 38,895 tonnes, down from 48,852 tonnes for the same month a year ago, according to the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
Month on month, imports increased by 1.0% from 38,521 tonnes in September 2013.
Imports of BD have been weaker for the year, mostly on softer demand from the rubber markets for replacement tyres.
Global BD supply has also been tight, mostly on weaker production rates in Asia.
Year to date imports through October were at 452,196 tonnes, down by 8.8% from 496,038 tonnes through October 2012.
