TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s internal demand for polystyrene (PS) rose by 8% to 58,843 tonnes in November year on year, with domestic shipments for packaging up 3% to 26,814 tonnes, official data from the Japan Styrene Industry Association (JSIA) showed on Friday.
Shipments for electric and industry applications, on the other hand, fell by 3% year on year to 7,744 tonnes, according to the JSIA.
Meanwhile, output of PS was down by 3% to 52,338 tonnes in November from the previous year, while exports rose by 11% to 1,784 tonnes, the data showed.
