HOUSTON (ICIS)--US Axiall said Friday's fire in the vinyl chloride manufacturing area of its Lake Charles chemical complex in Louisiana has been extinguished.
The fire occurred at about 13:40 Central time (19:40 hours GMT) and was extinguished about an hour later, with no reported injuries to plant personnel, the vinyls producer said.
Axiall did not disclose whether production was affected.
"Axiall’s investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing, and we are coordinating with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and other authorities," the company said.
