SINGAPORE (ICIS)--US-based Axiall said on Monday its production in other parts of its Lake Charles chemical complex in Louisiana, the US, was unaffected by the 20 December fire which occurred at the vinyl chloride manufacturing area of the facility.
“The remainder of the Lake Charles facility was unaffected by the fire, and production continues as normal in those areas,” the company said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Axiall is still investigating the cause of the fire and the firm is working with outside engineering firms to assess the damage to the structure and the impact on production, it said.
The fire occurred at about 13:40 Central time (19:40 hours GMT) on 20 December and was extinguished about an hour later, with no reported injuries to plant personnel.
