SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s BASF-YPC plans to shut its 200,000 tonne/year low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant at Nanjing province on 5 January for maintenance, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

The plant will shut for about two weeks, the source added.

Local distributors said the turnaround would reduce the LDPE supply in the local market as BASF-YPC is one of the major producers in east China.

Officials from BASF-YPC, a joint venture between Sinopec and BASF, could not be immediately reached for comments.
