Kuwait’s KARO runs Shuaiba aromatics unit at 100% after turnaround

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Kuwait Aromatics Company (KARO) is operating its Shuaiba-based aromatics facility at 100%, following the completion of a scheduled turnaround in the second-half November 2013, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The Shuaiba aromatics facility, which has a nameplate capacity of 393,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 820,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX), was shut for about two weeks.

KARO is a joint venture of Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), with a 40% stake, Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), with a 40% stake, and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC), with the remaining 20% stake.
