LONDON (ICIS)--Braskem has sold the water treatment unit at the Triunfo petrochemical complex in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul to environmental solutions firm Odebrecht Ambiental, Braskem said on Wednesday.
The unit produces demineralised, clarified and drinking water for the companies that operate out of Triunfo, Braskem said in a statement. The agreement between the two Brazil-based companies guarantees Braskem’s long-term supply of industrial water at the complex.
The deal, worth Brazilian reais (R) 315m ($135m), is part of Braskem’s strategy to focus its spending in the petrochemical sector, the company said.
Braskem’s facilities at Triunfo produce basic chemicals and petrochemicals, polypropylene (PP), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and green polyethylene, according to the company.
