HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of methyl di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) in November 2013 were down by about 1.4% from November 2012, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Thursday.
MDI exports in November 2013 declined to 921 tonnes from 934 tonnes in 2012.
Month on month, exports were down by more than 36% in November from 1,449 tonnes in October 2013, the ITC said.
Through November, exports in 2013 decreased by 5% to 11,089 tonnes, compared with 11,701 tonnes in the first 11 months of 2012, according to the ITC.
The decrease from 2012 to 2013 was a result of smaller volumes being shipped to Brazil and India.
Top destinations for US MDI through November 2013 were Mexico (3,946 tonnes), Brazil (2,610 tonnes) and Taiwan (1,122 tonnes).
US MDI suppliers are Bayer MaterialScience, Huntsman, BASF and Dow Chemical.
