HOUSTON (ICIS)--Colombia’s polystyrene (PS) prices are going up by at least Colombian peso (Ps) 200/kg ($104/tonne) in January, buyer sources said on Friday.
The increase is in line with initiatives seen in the US Gulf and other countries seeking at least a 3 cent/lb price increase for all grades of PS.
With the January increase, general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) prices are at $2,283-2,387/tonne FOT (free on truck), while prices of high impact polystyrene (HIPS) are in the range of $2,387-2,491/tonne FOT, according to ICIS data.
Colombia has two producers, Ajover and Americas Styrenics. The former consumes most of its own production.
