HOUSTON (ICIS)--Oxea is seeking a price increase of 3 cents/lb ($66/tonne) for oxo-alcohols isobutanol (IBA) and n-butanol (NBA) in the US, Canada and Mexico, the company announced on Monday.

The price increase is to be effective on 1 February, or as contracts allow.

Oxea’s last proposed price increase on these products was for 8 cents/lb, announced on 10 December 2013, effective 1 January. The company has not specified if the latest increase is in addition to the 8 cents/lb increase or a retreat from the previously-announced price rise.

Oxea has also proposed price increases of 3 cents/lb on IBA and NBA, effective 1 February, for South and Central America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

ICIS-assessed prices are 125 to 130 cents/lb for IBA and 88 to 95 cents/lb for NBA.
